Passport and visas
The British Embassy in Ulaanbaatar accepts visa applications from 09.00 – 11.00 on Monday-Thursday mornings. Applications for UK visas and passports are forwarded to the British Embassy in Beijing, where the visas are issued. We recommend that visa applicants therefore apply a minimum of 15 working days before they intend to travel.
Since December 2007 we have taken biometric data in the form of a ten-finger scan and digital photographs of applicants when they apply for visas. Applicants for visas must therefore apply at the Embassy in person.
Changes have been made to the passport section of this website. Information about biometric passports is now available. Fees have also been updated to reflect changes.
