The FCO currently funds a small bilateral programme focussed on projects which support specific objectives in Mongolia. In 2008/9 these are combating corruption and embedding democratic practice, good governance and respect for human rights, including the Kazakh Mongolian Muslim minority.  Projects are usually implemented in partnership with local NGOs.  This year they have so far included support for training the media on how to improve the reporting of political issues in the run-up to the parliamentary elections on 29 June and a training programme for the judiciary on combating corruption in the procurement process.
